Providing Special Needs Therapy with a Difference

At Autism Horses Australia (AHA) we offer play based, experiential therapy.

Many other ASD therapies are goal and solution orientated, requiring your child to respond in a specific way when prompted. This can sometimes create a ‘demand avoidance’ behaviour in your ASD child.

These therapies have their place, but at AHA, we practice a relationship based model of therapy. There is no requirement of your child to perform or respond to a prompt.

Through the relationship built with their therapy horse, your child will maintain or improve their functional capabilities. You may see improvement in areas of emotional regulation, communication, and a reduction in restricted or repetitive behaviours.

Each of our Programs seek to address independent functioning in the three areas of impairment that come with your child’s diagnosis:

• Communication
• Restricted or repetitive thoughts and behaviours.
